Having grown up in an environment with challenges in security, Linda Ochwanda saw the need to design a technology which will solve the problem.

This is the story about FIKO, a proximity alert system for the African market under the AfroAI company, an IT company with its headquarters in Berlin Germany. Linda graduated from Moi University with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and later on relocated to Germany to pursue her Masters in Geodesy and Geoinformation Science. Since Linda had a great passion to further pursue her studies in climate change, she combined her previous masters with another masters programme at the Climate KIC & European Institute of Innovation and Technology. After graduating, Linda managed to join a company based in Berlin and worked there as a Geo Data Scientist. In 2019, Linda started Afro-AI, a company that is providing AI solutions to spatial and non-spatial Data Science challenges. She recently Co-Founded FIKO.

About FIKO

FIKO proximity system consists of a receiver and transmitter. It gives an alert when a car, motorbike or bicycle (with the FIKO transmitter) is approaching your premises (with the FIKO receiver). This gives time for someone in your premises or offices to open the gate just before your actual arrival. The FIKO transmitter can broadcast its signal to several FIKO receivers and vice versa. https://www.fiko.tech/
