Meet Philly Yambo Makora, the Founder of the Tales of Yambo, who studied Publizistik (Journalism) at the University in Mainz.
Philly's passion to study in Germany started after learning German in Pangani high school in Kenya. After joining Goethe Institut in Nairobi, Philly partnered with other students and formed the Deutschklub des Goethe Instituts. German language students could meet at the club to practice the language. One of the highlights from the club is when Philly and her team organised the 'Mr and Mrs Deutsch', a competition where different teams were given the assignment to present German states to the other club members. This helped the students to gather information about the culture among many other things.
Philly is currently working in the PR sector in Germany and she shared with us some tips on how to join this very competitive sector in Germany.
"Why try hard to fit in, when you were destined to stand out? Dare to follow your dreams", says Philly. This is the reason why Philly founded The Tales of Yambo, a platform covering stories of inspiring Africans in the form of short interviews. The main aim is to inspire, connect with and grow with the African entrepreneurs in the Diaspora.
