Have you ever filed your tax returns in Germany? Are you familiar with the benefits and potential drawbacks? Join us for an informative session led by an expert in actuarial and financial services in Germany, who will walk us through the entire process of filing tax returns. You'll also learn how certain costs can be used for tax exemptions!

Introduction

The question of whether it is obligatory to file your tax return in Germany depends on your income situation and certain social factors. If you earn a regular salary without additional income and have not received social benefits, you are generally not required to file a tax return. However, it is strongly recommended to do so, as failing to file could result in losing out on refunds you might otherwise receive from the Finanzamt. Filing a tax return in Germany can be somewhat challenging. While some people turn to apps for assistance, these solutions have their drawbacks, including costs. However, with the introduction of Elster, a tool for filing taxes, the process has become easier and somewhat automated.

In my presentation, I will guide you through the basics of income tax and demonstrate how to file your tax return independently using Elster. I will also share a few tips on how to save on taxes. This presentation will focus solely on income from regular salaries; a separate presentation will cover tax filing for self-employed individuals.
