Do you know about WIDU.africa business grants?

We are excited to continue our Digital Investment Talks series highlighting entrepreneurial success stories supported through the WIDU.africa programme. In collaboration with members of the Kenyan diaspora and local entrepreneurs, these sessions spotlight how diaspora-backed investments help businesses grow, create jobs, and strengthen communities.

Through WIDU financial support, and business coaching, entrepreneurs across Kenya are expanding their ventures and building sustainable livelihoods. Many of these businesses have been made possible through partnerships with diaspora donors. One of them is Dr. Seronei, founder and CEO of Sinonin Biotech GmbH in Germany, who has helped support more than 60 entrepreneurs through the programme.

These sessions bring together diaspora partners and the entrepreneurs they support to share the full journey—from an initial idea to business growth and local impact.

Meet the entrepreneurs

Winnie, Director of Riley-Boban Foods Ltd

Based in Eldoret, Riley-Boban Foods Ltd is a value-addition company that uses solar drying technology to process and package indigenous vegetables, helping extend shelf life, reduce post-harvest losses, and create income opportunities for local farmers in Uasin Gishu County.

Amos Kiptoo, Founder & Medical Director of Siloam Eye Centre

Siloan Eye Center is an eye clinic that is currently expanding its services as it transitions into a centre of excellence for eye care in Kenya’s North Rift region. Its new location improves accessibility and allows the team to broaden their scope of specialized services.

Together, these entrepreneurs demonstrate how WIDU’s co-funding model transforms diaspora support into sustainable businesses that generate employment, expand access to essential services, and contribute to long-term economic resilience.
