Sales Account Manager - Personal Care - Southern Africa

What you can expect

The incumbent will manage the Personal Care customer portfolio to ensure sales strategy and operational targets are archived sustainably, taking BASF’s business interests into account. Market and sell BASF products to optimize market share and profit margins. Enable targeted business performance as interface between sales, customer service, regional product management, product management, finance department and customers. Duties will include the following:

  •  Partner with customers to develop new formulations based on strong technical competences
  • Ensure bottom up budget planning and self-monitoring in line with relevant SBU and regional strategies
  • Analyse market potentials / conduct market survey for allocated portfolio
  • Reach sales and CM1 target for respective BU and keep cost budget
  • Develop and implement CC’s strategy in line with BU strategy to reach strategy targets based on 4P principles, MAS and segmentation models
  • Develop and implement value proposition model in line with BU and CC’s strategy
  • Responsible for the BU S&OP process, early involvement of supply chain team
  • Operational guidance and support of the relevant CSO’s, responsible for S&OP process
  • Maintain and develop customer relationship to increase sales, explore business opportunities
  • Identifies and implement possible improvements to business processes
  • Manage and develop short and midterm customer portfolio
  • Adherence to and compliance with all BASF guidelines and procedures (e.g. Code of conduct, Values and Principles, BASF Strategy).
  • Quality of Data in IT systems – Customer MD, SAP contract tool and correct pricing input
  • Active representation of BASF’s interests (e.g. industry associations)
  • Interaction and cooperation with relevant internal interfaces / service units

 What we expect

Bachelor Degree in Science incl Chemistry, Biochemistry or Physiology (alternatively also Chemical Engineering), Cosmetic Science Diploma welcome

  • Work experience in Sales and/or Marketing preferred
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years’ in the Personal Care industry necessary
  • Experience in formulation of personal care products
  • Experience in the respective business segment – product and customers
