CENIT@EA offers a 2-year Master in Embedded and Mobile System that is geared towards the needs of the private and public sector in East Africa.
The Master includes elements such as an internship an applied Master thesis, Summer Schools, guest lecturers from the private and public sector, as well as Entrepreneurial and Soft Skills training. This enables the students to develop and marketize digital solutions, that are crucial for the transformation of industries and the development of the region.
By offering such a unique curriculum, CENIT@EA shapes the digital pioneers of tomorrow and enhances solution-oriented thinking in order to help students create innovations that boost the East African economy. CENIT@EA’s powerful network with the private and public sector in the region opens the door towards many job opportunities and allows the students to work on real-life challenges to get practical experience.
Currently, 64 students are studying the MSc EMoS and are benefitting from a truly international educational environment, as the Master is taught by a consortium of universities and institutes from across East Africa and Germany.
The admissions office together with the School of Computational and Communication Sciences and Engineering (CoCSE) at the NM-AIST, are responsible for guaranteeing a balanced distribution of admissions to the Master programme in “Embedded and Mobile Systems” (EMoS).
CENIT@EA seeks for a balanced distribution of scholarships among the Partner Statesof the East African Community (EAC) by assuring a fair, transparent and considerate selection of scholarship beneficiaries in line with official DAAD regulations. The evaluation and selection of the candidates is done by an international Scholarship Selection Committee together with the Admissions Committee and the School of CoCSE at NM-AIST in order to enhance capacity building and promote institutional development.
The scholarships award by the project do not only include a monthly living allowance, rent assistance and financial assistance for studies and research, but also cover the tuition fees applied at NM-AIST.

The EMoS programme is structured in academic modules which includes distinctive and integrative courses with high educational and practical content that address the local and regional development needs and challenges. The programme includes a variety of courses and it focus on four major topics, which are highly relevant for current industrial issues: Mobile Computing, Embedded Systems, Soft Skills and Basic Skills. The call is aimed at graduates with a first academic degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM), as well as professionals working already in the academia or private and the public sector. The CENIT@EA project especially aims to strengthen the role of women in STEM-related fields and the ICT sector. Female graduates are therefore particularly encouraged to apply.
Interested students can apply to the master programme in Embedded and Mobile Systems through the NM-AIST Online Admission System. The admissions process is fully handled by NM-AIST.
