We are pleased to share that we were invited to participate in an exclusive diaspora engagement strategy workshop hosted by GIZ/WIDU on June 11th, 2025, at the Deutsche Afrika Stiftung e. V. (DAS) in Berlin.
This in-person event brought together focal persons from across Europe (WIDU.africa partners) who demonstrated exceptional commitment during the recent WIDU diaspora mobilization initiative. The aim of the workshop was to reflect on key lessons learned, explore future collaboration opportunities, and introduce WIDU’s new implementation partner for upcoming diaspora initiatives.
We are proud to have been a WIDU partner since 2022, actively promoting diaspora engagement between Germany and Kenya. Through this collaboration, we have worked to support knowledge exchange, mobilize the Kenyan diaspora, and contribute to strengthening economic participation through remittances and entrepreneurship.

WIDU.Africa continues to serve as a strong example of how remittances can be transformed into productive investments. As of early 2025, over 5,500 micro and small enterprises (MSMEs) in Cameroon, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Togo, and Tunisia have been supported through WIDU’s innovative co-investment model — combining diaspora contributions with matching grants and business coaching.
We are excited about the growing momentum behind diaspora engagement and look forward to shaping future strategies that empower communities both in Africa and in the diaspora.
